MIPS 2017: How Did You Do?

July 18, 2018

It’s always strange to run a race where you are not sure where the finish line is or where the other runners are at.  CMS has posted performance feedback on their QPP website for practices to sign in and review.

What you can expect to see:

  • Final composite score – this is the weighted average score of all the MIPS categories together and is based out of 100

  • Payment adjustment – this is the percentage increase or decrease a practice will see to their Medicare reimbursement revenue starting January 1st, 2019

  • Category breakdowns – each MIPS category (Quality, ACI and Improvement Activities) is broken down to its own specific score

  • Provider breakdowns – for most practices we should see some information broken down to the provider level

What you won’t see:

  • Benchmarking comparisons – we will not be seeing comparable data in general, meaning that we won’t be sure for a while how we did against the rest of the nation

What you need to do:

  • Make sure you are signing in and reviewing the full report carefully

  • If there are discrepancies, you must file your Targeted Review with CMS by September 30th to make any sort of corrections

  • Review your plan and systems for MIPS 2018 to ensure any areas of improvement are identified and adjustments are made

This may be a blind race but it’s still a race. Ensure your plan is still working and improving. If you have any questions about the program feel free to reach out to us at MedMan.
